Questions & Answers
Working with Summit
-
Summit Freight Dispatch works with independent owner-operators and small-to-medium-sized trucking companies looking for professional dispatch support. We work with carriers based on their equipment, operating preferences, lanes, availability, and dispatch needs.
-
I can support a variety of equipment, including dry vans, reefers, flatbeds, step decks, box trucks, and other equipment depending on the freight and carrier's operating authority and preferences.
-
Yes, provided the carrier meets the requirements necessary to operate and use the dispatch service. I can discuss your operation and determine whether our services are appropriate for your business.
-
Yes. Dispatching is not limited to carriers located in Florida. We can work with carriers operating throughout the United States, subject to the carrier's operating authority, equipment, lanes, and the services we agree to provide.
Loads & Dispatching
-
I search available freight based on your current location, equipment, preferred lanes, destination preferences, minimum rate expectations, deadhead preferences, availability, and home-time needs. I also consider the next available load and destination market when planning your moves.
-
No. You always have the final say on whether you want to accept a load. I present freight options that fit your operation and preferences, but you remain in control of your truck, schedule, and final load decisions.
-
How do I negotiate rates?
I communicate with freight brokers on your behalf and negotiate proposed rates and terms based on the load's mileage, market conditions, deadhead, equipment requirements, scheduling, destination, and your established rate expectations. My goal is to evaluate the overall freight opportunity—not just the individual rate—while keeping your business preferences in mind.
-
Absolutely. Your preferred lanes, destinations, states, home-time requirements, and areas you want to avoid are part of your carrier profile and are considered when searching for freight.
-
When possible, yes. I use reload planning to look ahead for the next available opportunity so you aren't waiting until after delivery to begin searching.
-
Do you communicate with brokers?
Yes. I communicate with freight brokers on your behalf regarding load availability, commodity details, weight, pickup and delivery requirements, rate negotiations, appointments, and other relevant shipment information within the scope of our dispatch agreement.
-
Yes. I can help monitor load status and maintain organized records of pickup, delivery, rate confirmations, and other relevant documentation.
Paperwork & Support
-
Yes. I can assist with organizing and managing dispatch-related paperwork such as rate confirmations, bills of lading, proof of delivery documents, carrier packets, broker information, and other transportation documents. You remain responsible for providing accurate documents and maintaining your required business and compliance records.
-
I'll communicate with the appropriate parties regarding the delay and help document relevant information. When applicable, I can communicate requests for detention, layover, TONU, or other accessorial charges. Payment of these charges is determined by the shipper and applicable terms; I do not guarantee payment.
-
Yes. When applicable, I can help document the circumstances, communicate with the shipper, and submit or request applicable accessorial charges. Approval and payment are determined by the shipper and applicable agreements.
Pricing & Agreement
-
My dispatch services are structured around the needs of your operation. Pricing and payment terms are explained before services begin and clearly outlined in your Dispatch Service Agreement.
-
Yes. Dispatch services may be canceled according to the terms outlined in your Dispatch Service Agreement. I believe the working relationship should be clear and straightforward for both you and your business.
-
My goal is to build long-term relationships with carriers, but the specific commitment and cancellation terms will be clearly explained in your Dispatch Service Agreement before you begin services.
-
No. Freight rates, availability, market conditions, fuel costs, and other factors can change. I do not guarantee a specific number of loads, revenue amount, rate, or profit. I focus on finding and evaluating available opportunities that fit your operation.
